Before I drove up the Outer Banks, I mapped out some of the lighthouses that I wanted to see. These are all right on the coast, and you’d need to be completely oblivious to not find them. They are large, and have been painted, photographed, and blogged countless occasions. Bodie Island Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse have been the 2 that come to thoughts as being well worth the trip (if you want to call driving 5 minutes out of your means an inconvenience).
